Newborn Photography is not just a job, it is such a passion of mine and I wanted to share a bit about how we came to be Bokeh Photography by Bree.
I wish I could share and say that being around a baby all day is what I always dreamt of doing in my life but that isn’t true.. I have been a Personal Trainer for the past 13 years (& absolutely love my job, I have amazing people around me all of the time who truly inspire me daily), and for the past 3years I have been a teacher at TAFE, educating people on how to become “Personal Trainers”. However In 2018 I decided it was time to learn again and Initially I wanted to get into photography to help with my partners fitness business. I wanted an understanding of how the person behind the camera manages to create such perfect images telling such powerful messages. So I contacted the best Photographer I know and started picking her brain. She was into Newborn Photography, something I knew nothing about. She advised I come down and watch her shoot so I thought, well I have nothing to lose.
Newborn photography is all about patience and being calm – something completely opposite to everything I’ve ever known or practised as I am very fast paced and bubbly having worked in a customer focused industry for almost half my life.
However I fell in love with newborn photography from my very first shoot. The smell of a new baby, the expressions of love in mumas eyes, their tiny fingers and toes and how it was something completely different to everything I new.
I continued to assist in all the newborn photography shoots I could attend whilst working my 2 jobs, the more I did it the more I fell in love.
So I made the decision to set out to create my own portfolio of precious newborns. Every shoot I learnt more about the creativity of colours, styles and props used during newborn photography shoots. I learnt about all different amazing birth stories and many sneaky tricks about comforting and soothing a baby. The safety involved in handling a baby and understanding what they need. I learnt all of the behind the scenes editing tips and techniques and realised just how many hours go into perfecting these skills.
So I decided to open up a Newborn photography studio where I can share this creativity on a daily basis.
I not only get to take beautiful photographs that will last a lifetime for you. I get to style, create, capture, comfort and edit an amazing story for you to now share with the world, all whilst meeting beautiful new families who have just started a new chapter in their lives.
