When I am not at the Bokeh Photography studio photographing newborn babies, I like to spend my time in the gym with my clients chasing & setting goals, training myself, getting outdoors exploring going on bushwalks, reading and drinking GREAT coffee. (I am a local so my favourite is Café Latitude or Café Fred). All while surrounding myself with my family and friends. (Why shouldn’t we spend our days doing the things that make us smile all the time)..
I find that these things make me feel happy and calm, and my goal each day is to be always feel happy and surround myself with inspiration. Whether that be surrounding myself with great people or inspirational thoughts, goals and dreams of others.
If I feel calm and happy I find that I am more inspired and creative with my colours, styles, props and studio session plans with my clients.
Before I go into a newborn session with a new Bokeh Photography client, I like to get a feel for who the parents are. I ask gooey normal questions about the birth and how bubs is doing but I also like to ask questions about what colors you like, what colors make you feel good, what colors are in your home, do you like flowers, do you prefer soft colors or more bold colors, do you like buckets or baskets or beds or neither. Some people love neutral colors, wooden styles with greenery and others like the baby pinks, princess crowns, flowers and teddy bears.
I believe this is really important as colors express different messages, they generate certain emotions and create different ideas for people. I don’t believe boys should just be in blue and girls should be in pink, a baby in green or yellow is just as beautiful.
My clients pick their colors/styles for a reason, so I want to use the things that they like to ensure they feel comfortable and happy with their final images as it matches the “colors/styles” that make their hearts and homes happy.
What I like, they may not like so I always over prepare to ensure that Mum and Dad are happy customers. I believe having the option to be a part of this process helps build stronger connections with your clients.
